The Mom Behind the Curtain … because every mom wants to be an all-powerful wizard, is now up!
That’s where you’ll find all my posts with things related to crafts, children’s book lists, and trips. Visit The Mom Behind the Curtain and say hello!
I posted a month or so ago that I had a new URL and the website would be moving, but when you do your own development, things can take awhile. It can take even longer if you’re trying to do thing “right.” For example, Austin has a very active WordPress community, so earlier this week I attended a WordPress MeetUp about web site security. And I wrote a post, WordPress Security Tips for Beginners.
During this process, you might notice some things on this blog preparing for the move. If you don’t see it already, soon I’ll be using the template Foodie Pro with Genesis on this site, just so I can check out how it’s going to work. But it won’t be completely styled, so a few things might look out of place.
The upside to how thoroughly I’m researching everything, if you happened to design your own website, or want to, I’m working on a pretty extensive series of WordPress tutorials for beginners to the more advanced, on everything from buying your domain, setting up local test sites on your own computer, migrating a designed site to another location and styling Foodie Pro for Genesis into a Lifestyle blog. So be sure to keep up with the changes or sign up to follow my blog in email!

Is a Kindle going to be in your child’s stocking? It’s never too soon to start adding free ebooks to your account so they’ll have lots of cool stuff to read right away. (And an added bonus, right now if you buy Amazon Prime when you buy your Kindle Paperwhite you get $40 off!)
Trip to Grandmother’s house? Keep them busy reading on the long trip over the river and through the woods.
For a limited time, the Miri Attwater and the Ocean’s Secret ebook edition is free on Kindle!…
In last weeks post about the paperback cover for Miri Attwater and the Ocean’s Secret, I mentioned that there was a little something that I’m especially proud of. Well, here it is, but bigger….
(Confetti and streamers compliments of my TechBoy! Aren’t they great? I would have added some cheering and clapping but it’s just annoying when you click on a website and your speakers start blaring. So, you’re welcome.)
As if finding out she’s a mermaid isn’t shocking enough, now Miri has to spend her summer at the bottom of the ocean!
Slimy pets, weird and salty food,…
Miri doesn’t think she’ll ever get used to any of it.
But the mermaid city of Kai Kaona is so beautiful, she’s made some special friends, and she’s surprisingly good at hulikela, a type of underwater dancing. Then, just as she decides things aren’t too bad after all, the coronation crown is stolen. Is she going to be stuck at the bottom of the ocean forever?
Find out how Miri copes with living at the bottom of the ocean and see what adventures she gets into. Check it out on Amazon.
And I’ve got lots in store for this blog the rest of the week, so stop back by!
UPDATE: The first review of Miri Attwater and All That Glitters is out at Books, Babies and Bows! I’ll do a dedicated post later, but go ahead and check it out. 🙂
Well, I went and did it. I really did it this time.
I’m now on facebook. (eek!)
A facebook page, to be exact.
I have never, ever been on facebook. (I know, hard to believe.) I have no idea what I’m doing. So if you get a chance, drop by and let me know if I’m doing it all wrong. 🙂
In other news, I’ve also got an updated author photo and a new avatar….
